First day
Welcome! Happy to have you in the team. Here are some useful things to do on your first day. If you find that things have changed, can you please update the wiki the reflect the new procedures. Most of what is below is for students/employees but visitors may also find some of the information useful.
Informatics, email, etc
Much of the information on getting set up is kept on the SIMaP wiki which is unfortunately only accessible on the internal network (or a VPN) so, unless you already have access to a desktop computer plugged into the network you will not be able to see the contents.
Our lab (SIMaP) is part of the Grenoble-INP engineering school and so most people will get a @grenoble-inp.fr email address (possibly in addition to another one from your employer). Sylvie will normally arrange for a member of the IT team to come see if with your credentials, but if this does not happen feel free to email the informatics hotline sos-info@simap.grenoble-inp.fr. Let them know your name and office number, and they will come and help you when they have time.
To access your Grenoble-INP email you can go to https://webmail.grenoble-inp.fr/.
eduroam
Once your informatics account is set up you can connect your laptop or phone to eduroam (great to do it now so it is set up for when you travel). The easiest way to do this is to use the configuration assistant tool.
Expenses system
To be able to go on conferences, etc, you need to be in the expenses system. How this works depends on your employer (and your source of funds).
Grenoble Alpes University (UGA)
You will need to be entered into a backend system called SIFAC so that you can access Notilus. First try going to Notilus and try logging in with your UGA credentials (username is [LAST NAME][FIRST INITIAL] e.g. uhrinm). If you get an error, you will need to (Fabienne Fonseca)[fabienne.fonseca@grenoble-inp.fr], attach the RIB from your bank and explain to her that you would like to be added to SIFAC so you can use Notilus.
Access to the lab building (For PhD students)
On your first day, HR (usually Sylvie) will normally give you a temporary badge to access the lab building. After you complete your registration and sign your work contract, you can go to the Doctoral College of Grenoble Alpes University (location: Maison du doctorat Jean Kuntzmann, 110 Rue de la Chimie, 38400 Saint-Martin-d'Hères), where the reception staff will print your official student/employee card. Please note that this official card is not automatically activated for access to your lab building. Once you have received it, you should contact Sylvie (HR) again so she can request the activation of your card for building entry. After your permanent card is activated, you can return the temporary badge.
